Dr. Paul Schwartz graduated from Mayo Medical School, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in 1982. He spent a year at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA as an intern before becoming an Undersea Medical Officer. Dr. Schwartz returned to the Naval Hospital in San Diego for his Orthopaedic Surgery residency in 1986, and completed this residency in 1990, focusing on sports medicine and shoulder surgery. He practiced in the Navy until leaving the service and founding Shasta Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in 1993. Dr. Schwartz is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the California Medical Association, the California Orthopaedic Association, and the Shasta County Medical Society. Since coming to Redding, Dr. Schwartz has continued to pursue excellence in medicine with continuing education courses and research into minimally invasive surgical techniques. He currently works as a consultant for Smith/Nephew Corporation, for the advancement of computer assisted orthopaedic surgery of the knee, and minimally invasive surgery of the knee.
